ACTRESS WHO HELPED OVERTURN BAN ON WOMEN’S AMATEUR BOXING TO SPEAK AT FILM FESTIVAL

Dallas Malloy to Discuss a Career Spanning Roles from ‘Jerry Maguire’ all the way to ‘Eli Stone’

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Sept. 12, 2011) – Noted actress and fitness expert Dallas Malloy, who in March 1993 successfully sued USA Boxing to overturn its ban on women’s amateur boxing, will discuss her career and how to succeed in Hollywood at the Burbank International Film Festival on Sept. 18.

The event will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. at Oracle Post, 4720 W. Magnolia Blvd. in Burbank.

“I am fortunate to have worked on many films and television series with many wonderful people so I’m thrilled to share my experiences and encourage others who are also pursuing their Hollywood dreams ,” said Malloy, who is known for her feature role in the blockbuster Tom Cruise film, “Jerry Maguire.”

Having gained fame at 16 when she successfully sued to overturn the ban on women’s amateur boxing by its ruling body, USA Boxing, Malloy has successfully crossed over into acting through “Jerry Maguire,” “Eli Stone,” “True Blood” and many others.

After a brief career as an amateur boxer, Malloy became a champion bodybuilder, gaining a national following before turning to acting and becoming a much sought-after talent.

“Boxing and bodybuilding taught me that you have to be relentless in your pursuit of excellence and the same is true for Hollywood. You have to believe in yourself, work hard and never let up until you achieve your goal,” she said.

Malloy currently is the focus of the biographical documentary “I am Dallas Malloy,” a film by noted French filmmaker Antoine Arditti, set for release early next year.

Each year, the Burbank International Film Festival brings together actors, directors, writers, producers and film lovers for screenings, discussions, seminars and sharing of ideas meant to support and encourage the art of filmmaking. Tickets are $12 and are available at www.burbankfilmfestival.org.
